Kidney Research UK - Funding research to save lives

A Football Match Bucket Collector

If you can spare a couple of hours on New Year’s Eve, Kidney Research UK would like to hear from you. Volunteers are required to help make the most of the fantastic opportunity to collect at Sunderland Stadium of Light for the Sunderland versus Manchester City game.

Volunteers must be friendly, outgoing and approachable. No previous experience is required.        

                                                     

                

Arthritis Research UK

 

Arthritis Research UK

The shop aims to raise funds to enable Arthritis Research UK to publicise it's work and to help fund further research into the treatment and cure of arthritic conditions. There is an opportunity for a:

Shop Assistant        

  

Volunteers aged 18 and over are required to assist in various areas of the shop including assisting on the till, pricing goods, steaming, customer service displays and cleaning.

Volunteers should be friendly and helpful and be prepared to operate the till. A willingness to learn new skills is also important.

 

Make-A-Wish United Kingdom

 

Make-A-Wish Foundation UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Since being established in the UK in 1986, we have granted over 6,000 wishes. There is an opportunity for a:

Wish Visitor

Volunteers aged over 18 will visit a wish child in their home to ascertain what their true wish is and why they would like it to be granted.

They will encourage open discussions with the child and their family and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed, witnessed and returned. A report is compiled within one day of the visit and submitted to the Foundation.

Volunteers aged over 18 should display good verbal communication with children, young people and parents and have the ability to cope with possibly distressing information and situations. They will need excellent listening and report writing skills along with the ability to deal with the unexpected and remain calm and patient in difficult situations.

9th East Durham Boys Brigade Company (Southwick)

The Boys Brigade is a Charity aiming to provide a safe environment where young people (male and female) can become involved in all kinds of fun and rewarding activities, make lasting friends and learn positive values for life. There is an opportunity for a:

Club Helper

As a Club helper in Southwick, the volunteer will be expected to make a regular commitment to assist with the organisation of the events. This will include planning and carrying out a schedule of activities, both in the club premises and outdoors.

Volunteers should be flexible with good planning and communication skills. Enthusiasm and a sense of humour are essential together with the ability to get along with young people.
